Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research (previously Leukaemia Research) is a British charitable organisation, established in 1960 by the Eastwood family from Middlesbrough who started raising money, following the death of their 6-year-old daughter Susan.[1]

The aim of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is to carry out research into leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma, aplastic anaemia, myelodysplasia, the myeloproliferative disorders and the related blood disorders in both children and adults.

They publish and provide patient information booklets which provide information on blood cancers and related disorders.

Its patron is the Duke of Kent and the current president is Sir Ian Botham.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has 150 Voluntary Branches across the UK. Local Voluntary Groups

Two volunteers from the voluntary groups received recognition from their efforts in the 2009 New Years Honours List. Janet Haynes founder and Chair of the Rugby Branch and Derek McCarrick who has run marathons for the charity for over 20 years, dressed as cartoon character Roger Rabbit have each been awarded an MBE.

The Charity has a conference each year. In 2010, the charity's 50th anniversary, the conference will be held in London.

A campaign to raise £50,000 in the 50th Anniversary was started called Giveus5. People were asked to donate £5 via the Just Giving website. Giveus5
